Perhaps one of the most beautiful places in the world?

Certainly Tuscany's  ability to boast several UN ESCO World Heritage sites is well justified as this amazing part of the world showcases it's rich history, art and natural beauty.

This promises to be so much more than just a landscape photography workshop. We will of course be out with our cameras every morning for sunrise and for sunset in the evenings, taking advantage of the best of the light. According to the locals, their favourite time of the year is late March to early April as they say it's the most beautiful time of the year. Early morning fog in the valley bottoms, giving amazing contrast and depth to images, stunning flora to add foreground interest and so many different colours. The days are not too long either - Sunrise is around 6.30am with sunset 12 hours later.

For me however the real potential of Tuscany from a photography perspective is its ability to take your compositions skills to the next level. For sure you will be shooting images with your wide angle lens, but what makes this place so unique is when you put a longer telephoto zoom onto your camera and start to pick out unique compositions that are hidden in the amazing panoramas. And then there are the unspoilt little towns are dotted around the area and usually found on top of a hill. The opportunity find images is just amazing and this in turn really makes you think about getting your lines straight along with what needs to be in the composition and what doesn't. I spent many a happy hour just walking around with my iPhone taking photos but thinking about what I was doing. Next time I will defiantly be taking the proper camera and probably a tilt shift lens into these beautiful places. I have included a few iPhone images in the gallery below.

Places on this workshop, like all of my week long foreign workshops will be limited to 3 clients only.
We will be flying to either Pisa or Rome where we will pick up our hire car ( 4 wheeled drive SUV) before heading to San Quirico d'Orcia where will we be staying on a self catering basis in a 4 bedroom villa with amazing views for the week. Each bedroom has its own en suite facilities and there is plenty of space either inside or in the gardens to relax and also edit some of the images that we will have taken. Staying self catering allows us to be as flexible as we want to be with our timings and eat when we want too.

Quickly onto food - if you enjoy amazing freshly produced food then you will be in for an amazing treat. The standard and quality is just amazing and prices are very reasonable, so I would expect that most evenings after a long day out with the cameras we may find ourselves in a quaint restaurant. You will be free to sample as much of the local wine as you like - but try not to drink too much as you don't want to miss sunrise the following morning!

To reserve your place on this workshop then a £400 non refundable deposit is required with the final balance of £2500 due by the 1st January 2027. Please use the booking form below.
