Italian Dolomites
3rd - 10th October 2027
3 places available
£3450 per person

When I was much younger, I lived in the Alps for 4 years and had the opportunity to visit the Italian Dolomites on a few occasions. I knew that it was a region that I had to return too with the camera. In the summer of 2024, I did and it was just as beautiful as I remembered. There and then that I had to add this stunning part of the world to my workshop itinerary.
The workshop will run from Sunday 3rd October through until 10th October 2027 and like all of my week long workshops, places are limited to 3 people, to ensure that you get the best possible experience. The actual dates could change slightly based on flights to Venice from the UK. For my 2026 workshop there are flights available on Sunday morning with a return flight late the following Sunday evening, which effectively gives us an extra days photography time. Once flights become available, I will confirm these too you.
The workshop will be based in 2 locations. For the first 3 nights we will be based in the San Candido area of the Dolomites which gives great access to places such as the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Lago di Braies. We will the be driving down to the Val Gardena area where we will stay for the remaining 4 nights.
Accommodation will be in 2 hotels and we will be staying on a bed and breakfast basis. You will have your own ensuite room on each of the nights. Travel will be in a 4 wheeled drive SUV that we will collect from Venice airport on our arrival. This allows us to be as mobile as we want to be with the assurance of 4 wheeled drive in the mountains.
As you can image with it being a mountainous region then there will be some uphill walking required, as such a moderate level of fitness will be required, especially for areas such as the Tre Cime. In other areas the cable cars* will take us from the valley bottoms up into the mountains and take us back down. Please do remember however, that we will be in the mountains and will be walking at altitudes above 2000 meters. If you have any concerns around this, then please speak to me prior to booking this workshop as I want to ensure that you will have an amazing time whilst remaining safe.
I have also chosen October for a good reasons. Firstly the sunrises at half 7 in the morning which will allow us the time to get to our locations well ahead of this and maximise the blue hour and golden hour light. The sun sets around half 6 in the afternoon so again we will have ample opportunities to maximise the light. The new moon is on the 15th October which means that the sky will not be saturated by its light. This will give us great opportunities to photograph the Milkyway above the mountain tops. Finally there is the chance that there will be early season snow of the mountains will would make amazing images and finally the Autumn colours will be starting to appear along with the chance of mist in the valleys - of course all of this is weather dependant!
The cost of the workshop is £3450 per person which includes accommodation, travel whilst in Italy along with photography instruction. Flights to Italy, meals other than breakfasts and *access to the ski lifts that we will use are not included in the price.
To reserve your place then please click here to be taken back to the main workshop page and use the booking request form at the bottom of the page. A £400 deposit will be required to secure your place and the final balance will be due by the 1st July 2027.
